Madeleinne Vionnet, a French fashion designer, the so called architect among dressmakers, has founded the Parisian label Vionnet in 1912. Vionnet has its main premier eight years later, when she created the Bias Cut, a technique for cutting cloth diagonal to the grain of the fabric, to create a fluid and draped look. The cut was used to flatter the female body and to accentuate the female figure. The label revived in the summer of ’09 by the creative director Rodolfo Paglialunga, the former fashion assistant of Miuccia Prada. Paglialunga closely followed the lines and cuts which made Vionnet famous while adding a modern edge.
